What the hell is ‘Miss Brooke’ all about? Well……….. I bring over 20+ years of experience in advertising and marketing. Capt’n Snooze (now Snooze) was my primary client for over 7 years. Over 3 advertising agencies, I went with Capt’n Snooze; I was the ‘must-have’ in an Agency pitch :).

Why? I was fun and energetic, knew the business, and was eager to take on everything.

Along the way, there were a number of assistants. One called me ‘Miss Brooke,’ and there it was - it stuck. Yes, I was brash, direct, but caring. I taught them lessons that would take them to bigger roles themselves. That still makes me proud. #howgoodisthat #sodamnproud #myjobisdone

But when I'm not busy being a marketing peep, I'm a wife and mother who's on a mission to avoid vacuuming at all costs. Give me a good meal from a new restaurant, time with my family, Uber Eats, or a book to get lost in, Netflix, and I am happy!

But life wasn’t all advertising and marketing. My life has been quite the roller coaster; no unicorns or fairy floss here. From dealing with the challenges of being adopted and navigating through it all (with my poor husband, Glen, at my side).

My parents, Johnny and Beres (adoptive), are the ones who picked me up when I fell down throughout my life. I am so lucky to have them in my life. In 2006, Dad was given 6 months to live after being diagnosed with melanoma cancer (the doctor didn’t take enough of it out, and it spread - grrrrr). My future husband and I made our wedding happen in 4 weeks (no bridezilla here), in between Dad’s treatments. It was the most amazing day; I married the man I absolutely loved, albeit the bloody sun turned it up to 42 degrees. I am grateful that my dad walked me down the aisle to the other man I loved and that he was at my side and I was by his. It’s a memory and a super important one for me to keep banked.

Dad passed away in July that year, and it left a big hole in my heart. Over 1,000 people came to his funeral, which was a testament to the awesome man and father that he was, and it still breaks my heart. #johnnymac

Then, three years later, I had a premature child, Mac, at 29 weeks (3 months early), and he is the sunshine and laughter in our lives. He is a little loud like me at times, super funny, and is now 17 and 6”5 and we all as a family share a unique bond. He taught me what really matters.

Eight years ago, I did DNA testing, and I discovered my biological roots. As it turns out, my birth father (dec) and grandfather (dec) were former Melbourne Football Club players, and I've been on a huge journey of discovery ever since. Lots of good times and sad times.

There is also my beautiful husband, our son, family, bio nephs and nieces, and four awesome bio cousins from my father’s side who have supported me on this sometimes very wild ride. #blessed.

What I have learnt is that ‘if you walk in my door, you are accepted without judgment’. The rule is just ‘Be Kind’. If you need to talk, then call me, and I won’t judge.

Currently, I do everything at Miss Brooke for various other brands (it is not outsourced).

What an adventure life has been, and I am sure as hell grateful for it!
